Steed of the Midsummer

Supergirl returns on the white Warsteed of the Midsummer
Hello, hello! I returned from vacation just in time to see the start of Summer Festival! Thanks for all the well wishes!

Other than having the festival quests actually work correctly, what I enjoy most about festival is of course the horses. Summer festival 2013 does not disappoint and offers the Steed of the Midsummer. As always, all the steeds of lotro can be found at All the Steeds.

In addition to the summer horse, festival offers the Warsteed Caparison for this horse. It dyes very well, and I will show a few shots in this article. Both the horse and the Warsteed's caparison for Midsummer are 40 Summer festival Tokens each. A wonderful guide is available at CSTM: 2013 Summer Festival to teach you about Summer Festival so I won't recap how to get tokens or do quests.

The Elven Tailor shows off the new Cosmetics here (The Elven Tailor: 2013 Summer Festival).

Final links... I had a couple of posts on 2012 Summer festival last year...

Let's see the new 2013 Steed of the Midsummer!

Steed of the Midsummer: Here is the basic horse. He is the same speed and health as all festival horses.

2013 Steed of the Midsummer
One thing i found really exciting about this horse is that it has a Tobiano patterned hide! That would make him the first festival horse that is a Tobiano. Cheers for diversification!

WarSteed of the Midsummer - default: Here is the Warsteed wearing the Caparison. Summer festival only offers one warsteed cosmetic piece, the Caparison. The Default grey horse still looks nice with the undyed outfit. I will show off six different looks after the Default.

As mentioned, the caparison dyes really well. Depending on the complementary color, the summer sun pattern of the outfit is more or less emphasized. I had fun trotting around Falathlorn looking at the trees and finding good settings that matched the horse. I like them all. :) Enjoy mixing and matching and finding your favorite. As always, let me know if you have a request. Have a great summer festival!

Supergirl of Lorien questions while /afk

I think it is time for a vacation to a place where trees are not scary...

Wow! It happens every once in a long while that I take a vacation, but now is that time. I will be back in late July, so I wish you all a great summer (if you live in the northern hemisphere, or great winter for those in the way south). Do please leave comments; it is always nice to get mail. :)

For fun, I put together a few Supergirl of Lorien site trivia questions. The only thing I have to offer is Pride for figuring out the answers. :D

"It's a good feeling to know you're alive. It's such a happy feeling, You're growing inside.
And when you wake up ready to say, I think I'll make a snappy new day!

And I'll be back, when the day is new, and I'll have new ideas for you...
And you'll have things you want to talk about, I will too." So long, neighbor!

See you soon, Danania <3

Steed of the Iron Hills

Warsteed of the Iron Hills - Forest Green on Dark Chestnut
July is here and it is time for a new steed of the month!

The previous month's steeds can be seen at...

As always, every steed in lotro can be found at All the Steeds, here at the site.

July Steed is the Steed of the Iron Hills.

When purchased from the store, the Steed of the Iron Hills comes with 4 pieces: Halter, Caparison, Leggings, and Saddle.

The barding for the Steed of the Iron Hills is a faded soft leather look with images of the Hills, set in orange on the halter and the caparison. Its rough leather look reminds me of the Steed of the Hunter, but the mid-drape section of the caparison is more similar to that of other lightly armored horses like the Steed of Nightwood. Its leggings are uniquely its own.

As a Warsteed, the cosmetics are light colored. The light and tan colors look much better on the brownish colored steed than the grey toned steeds. The Chestnut color hides all work well. This steed almost inspired me to buy the Flaxen Chestnut hide color, but I think I will wait for that color to go on sale.

Now some pictures!

Steed of the Iron Hills: Here is the basic horse. He is a dark brown horse with leather outfit, orange mountains in the pattern, and greyish green barding.

Warsteed of the Iron Hills - default appearance
The Warsteed cosmetic is similar to the basic horse. EDITED 07/02/13 evening: All orange mountains and striping from the basic horse are included in the Warsteed cosmetics. :)  Thank you commenter Sam for setting me straight. If you viewed these pictures within the first few hours after this article posted, you saw these same pictures with a different saddle (I left the Steed of the Hunter saddle in the top cover picture).

Warsteed of the Iron Hills - Crimson and Red Roan
Here is the Warsteed cosmetic in crimson with a Red Roan hide. The orange mountains accentuate with the brown hide. This shot really shows off the Leggings which are snazzy! The leggings cover both the upper and lower parts of the legs.

Warsteed of the Iron Hills - Umber and Black Chestnut
Umber?? Oh my. I would have never thought to use Umber on a cosmetic as I tend to be vibrant; however, it really works with this steed. The umber shade of brown is very hunter-friendly. Here I matched it with the sleek Black Chestnut hide.

Warsteed of the Iron Hills - Ered Luin Blue and Black
I love the sharp look of the bold colors like Ered Luin. I complemented it with an equally bold Black hide. Mebbe that is just what a tan subtle Steed of the Iron Hills needs... a bold vibrant blue.

Warsteed of the Iron Hills - Forest Green and Dark Chestnut
The green coloring on the mid-section of the caparison is not dyeable, so choosing a green dye on the part that is dyeable really blends well. The Forest Green is vibrant yet offers a good blend to the rugged look.
